SMITH FAMILY TREE
These are the branches of our family tree that I have stumbled upon so far.
Also,since glaucoma is so prevalent in our family, I have recently discovered
that we have inherited the VIKING GENE.In all likelyhood, this happened
during the height of Viking activity in the 200 year period between 795-1014
when they raided and settled in parts of Ireland and intermarried with Gaelic families.
Like most other Irish families, we are descended from
THE CELTS (6000BC-430AD), THE GAELS, THE VIKINGS (795-1014AD)
THE NORMANS (1169-1269AD)
The NORMANS were descended from 10th Century Vikings who conquered western France.
They came over with William the Conquerer and intermarried with Gaelic nobility
establishing the celebrated Norman-Irish feudal families---Fitzgerald,Burke,Costello,
and BUTLER ---who ruled much of Ireland until late in the 16th Century.
Theobald Le Botiller Fitzwalter, the first Chief Butler (Governor) of Ireland,
is the Ancestor of the Butler Family of Ireland and everyone in our family tree
along with anyone descended from Butlers from Ireland are
descended from this one common ancestor.

The Kennedy Family came to North America
abt. 1680 and Walter Butler arrived around 1710
Capt Walter Butler 1 (1685-1760) married Mary Harris (1690-1724) in 1713
son Capt. Walter Butler 11 (1718-1755)
father of Mary (Butler) Kennedy (1746-1805)
Mary (Butler) Kennedy was niece to the famous Col. John Butler.
He led his Butler's Rangers and Natives against the American Revolutionaries
from New York to Illinois and her husband,William Kennedy, was doing the same
thing (although on a smaller scale) around Albany, New York.

Daniel Scott could have been a survivor
of the troop ship HMS Penelope which broke up in 1815
off the coast near Douglastown and then deserted (42 crew did).
There was a George Scott on the Ship's list and he was one of the deserters.
I didn't find Daniel's name on the Ship's list but it is the same
year that he got married in Douglastown.He is listed in the
1825 census as born in Devonshire England

Daniel Scott and Mary Anne Walsh had an affair.
She got pregnant and they took off about 1830
and ended up in Bristol,Quebec and
Daniel Scott changed his name to Daniel Smith.

Mary Anne's brother Stephen Walsh came to Bristol,Quebec to tell them
that Elizabeth LeRhe Scott (Daniel's 1st wife) had died and they
were now able to marry. Daniel admitted his name change to the parish
priest prior to the wedding. All ten children were present at the
wedding and all ten were baptized that same day.

a better life and they struggled and endured even through our harsh
Canadian winters in primitive conditions. First in log cabins and then
in houses with only wood stoves for heat and freezing well water for
bathing,they managed to live and pass on their legacy to us.
TOUGH,STRONG,DETERMINED
Thanks to them, we exist and future generations will exist because
