NEW PROJECTS The latest client brought this pattern and some linen fabric from Japan. The pattern number is Vogue 1113 and it is designated as easy. This is lovely fabric to work with. The artist is Nani Iro. Here is the front almost finished. It needs a big button and edge stitching. I bound all the raw edges with bias poly lining fabric using a Hong Kong finish technique. You can see the fabric all spread out here as the sleeves are cut all in one with the bodice. Finally a perfect dyed geode button from Websters in Ashland for the front. It has another button toggled behind it so the buttonholes can be 1/2 inch long and the button is inserted like a cuff link and remains stable in front. Here you can see the button up close along with the edge stitching. Two other options for a more casual look. The backs to show the toggle. In April I finished this outfit to wear under her jacket for a wedding rehearsal dinner. It is Simplicity 2938. Fit was good but again the directions were poor and instead of facings for the armholes and pants top, it said to just use tape binding....how ugly would that be? And for the wedding the mother of the bride will be wearing Butterick 5396 in silk dupionni lined with Ambiance.
