Sewing Projects Here are a few things I do in my spare time when I am not beading...not beading? I must be joking! This handmade set of cathedral window quilt squares was made from ivory muslin and a silk sari. Each square took over one hour to assemble and sew by hand. There are 400 squares in my quilt. Let's say I had lot of time on my hands when I lived through some British winters. The book that inspired me to do this was Through the Window and Beyond by Lynne Edwards. You can follow Ann Benson's pattern for an eyeglass case made with beads on Aida cloth. Mine is lined with green silk and backed with ultrasuede. She now has kits for sale. A vest class I am teaching with sashiko stitching and oriental side panels. The black panels are denim. Here is the latest vest made from a pattern by Birch Street. It is corduroy and cotton ladybug print. The edges are all topstitched with YLI Variations thread, even the buttonholes. This color choice reflects my desire for an early spring! A sueded silk and vintage kimono fabric cocktail coat that is also a class. It is piped and lined with red flowered cotton. The back with a pleat of silk and topstitching at the waist.
