This B.C. Spirit Square is a gathering area to celebrate the langley township's rich cultural heritage as the birthplace of British Columbia. This is about celebrating our past, present and future. This heritage achievement reminds us that The Birthplace of BC was proclaimed in 1858 at this historic centre, what is now the community hall.
Langley has made wonderful contributions to this including the redevelopment of the Bedford area waterfront which will focus on green space and making the area accessible to the whole community. The Spirit Square is a perfect addition which helps to create or improve outdoor public meeting/celebration spaces including;
First Nations,
municipal governments,
school education trips,
local business,
fine arts and culture.
Thanks to the hard work of the city, township, community members, local organizations, heritage guidelines and the Spirit of BC Community Committee, the village of Langley will have a special square to call its own. BC150 is a celebration of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Crown Colony of British Columbia in 1858.
